cozy january reset: pilates, books, needlepoint, and beach walks
Hi friends,
Pilates, beach walks, needlepointing, baking, reading… It has been a good time!
Let’s dive into the weekly:
—
Mood Check
Lately trying so hard to find more peace and contentment. It’s not easy, but I work really, really hard, and sometimes I can’t see the forest for the trees. Oftentimes, I suppose. But I’m starting to shift my mindset around input and output and priorities and leaning into the things I have in my life that make me happy!
I’m ready for summer. Personally, I think it is the most fun time, and maybe part of (or most of) it is romanticizing life, but there are just vibes during summer that I love so much. I am enjoying some of the cozy January days and activities more than I normally do, I’ll admit that, but the weather fluctuates so much and I’d just rather be in swim trunks with sunkissed skin and a drink with mango and pineapple.
Home & Hobbies
More needlepoint, of course! Finished the cutest starfish canvas and now back to my Talk To The Palm canvas. The background stitch is taking a while since I have to count and keep track of the stitches around other colors. If you’re interested in starting out, I’d recommend Lycette, Morgan Julia Designs, and Penny Linn as great jumping off points! I’m hoping to pick up another ornament this weekend at my LNS.
We got in a beach walk! Maybe our first of 2026? Potentially? Nothing is better than a beach walk at sunset.
I made the most delicious chai cinnamon rolls from scratch. They were super fluffy and the spices were so good—the cream cheese chai icing was amazing.
Reading
Mitchell and I are still reading Wuthering Heights together as our buddy read. We’re both reading separate books, too, and I think we’ve been a bit more consumed in those, but I think part of that is because of the density of Wuthering Heights—it’s not as simple to dip in and out, which is part of its charm, but also makes it a bit more challenging to sit down with for a quick reading session.
Still reading The Wedding People! I’ve been picking up my Kindle a lot more! Doesn’t hurt that it’s in the cutest case ever—my mom got it for me for Christmas and it couldn’t be more perfect.
Watch List
Still enjoying Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. I really like the tone and humor and want to see what happens next!
I want to go see Send Help but I’m honestly nervous because everyone says it’s so shocking and gory… Someone let me know if this is going to have me squirming and shutting my eyes the whole movie?!
Wearing
My besties over at Printfresh sent me the CUTEST Peckish Pastry pajamas. I love gushing about how Printfresh pajamas are my favorite and they gave me code ROBBY15 to share with you guys to save 15% on your order!! (I also wear the Champagne & Caviar set and the Unleashed Stories set all the time!)
Been so happy you guys are checking out the Lululemon Pace Breaker 5” short! I just got two pairs on sale—a cobalt blue and a nice khaki!
Fitness
I went to pilates with my friend Macy last week and now I have signed up for a membership! I really enjoyed the reformer workouts, and the structure and pacing felt really good. I’m excited to add this into my routine at least once a week to strengthen my core (and the glute workout leaves you feeling it!). Got some cute grip socks by Tavi at the studio!
Writing
Making progress ever so slowly. I’ve been really reevaluating my process, also. I think I’ve become a bit too rigid about outlining, when I’m a writer who enjoys the discovery and emotional journey of writing a bit more fluidly. I’d guess that since being published, I now have more insight into what editors and sales teams and marketers and booksellers are thinking and saying and that is its own type of paralysis—how do I ensure this is good enough? So I’m thinking of trying a loose outline and just drafting, similar to how I used to write.
On Repeat
TBD, it’s that time where I start honing in on my writing playlist!
I will say Aperture has been on repeat, though. Can’t believe we finally have new Harry Styles music!
Week three? This is, like, a proper newsletter! Please let me know what you guys are up to and what you’re watching/reading/listening to/stitching, etc.!
As always, thank you for reading!
